You suck. Build a damn tower next to my house so I can get decent cell and data reception.
Thank you.

Wordpress

I must say, Wordpress has really come a long way since I installed it way back when. It now supports built-in updating, which for anyone who has used the blogging software knows was always a pain in the ass due to theme and plugin incompatibilities between versions. It also supports online plugin installation, so no need to even download the plugins locally and upload them, you can do them all via their admin panel.
It’s turning out to be quite the slick little system, I’m very impressed to say the least.
Merry New Yearmas!

Once again I am rocking the blog with a post rate of about three per year, but at least this time I have something more to report then a one-line bag of lameness. Anyway..
It was a great Christmas and New Years, Raechel came home from Toronto just before Christmas so we had the opportunity to spend it together before the boys came up for the World Junior Hockey Tournament. I took the train down to Toronto mid-December to go to her work’s Christmas party which was an excellent time. Nothing like an open bar at a swanky golf and country club while dressed to the 9’s! Good times.
Speaking of the World Juniors, what a tournament! GO CANADA GO! The win over Russia was amazing, the tieing goal with 5 seconds to go put Scotia Bank Place in an absolute frenzy. The place was electric. We had the full tournament pass and ended up going to 18 games altogether, it was the only way to guarantee a ticket to all the Canada games plus the medal rounds. Besides myself, there was my brother Doug, our friend Doug Facey, along with friends Marshall and Donnie from here in Ottawa. Overall, the tourny couldn’t of turned out any better.
We actually didn’t do much for New Years, after the Canada with over USA we headed home, and after a couple games of Wii we realized it was 12:04am. Whoops! Happy New Year! Couple more beers and some bowling matches later, all hands shut er down.
To end it all off, Brother B and myself headed down to Toronto to see AC/DC at Rogers Center (skydome) and what an amazing show. Cannons going off, fire roaring from the stage and of course Angus’s strip tease is always a classic. They played 4 tracks off their new album plus tons of classics, some of which were staples and a couple rarities you don’t hear every day. I dropped Doug off at the airport the morning after and headed back to Ottawa in record time, gotta love beautiful days and traffic-free highways.
So that’s it for my holidays, good times had by all. This year the plan is to finish up the basement and get the deck/patio done outside, which we still haven’t decided what we are doing yet. Hopefully the winter doesn’t last too long, I’m ready for summer fun already!

NHL where are you?
by Glen on Aug.25, 2008, under Randomness
Oh man, I feel like I am going insane some days. I really nee my NHL fix, like bigtime. All this news about Mats Sundin possibly going to Montreal is really making me crazy, especially when I hear the latest rumor about him going to the Rangers or some other god awful team. If he went back to the Leafs I wouldn’t mind so much, at least then I can laugh even harder at the Leafs fans for another year wasted. Either way, WHERE’S MY NHL?
In other news, dear ole dad is making his way up to good ole Gatineau next month, can’t wait! Should be fun to spend some time with dad and start the basement, which I’ve been putting off for far too long. I am a bit nervous to start construction, but hopefully with dad there we can make some good decisions and get some quality work done at the same time. TV in the basement is slowly becoming more of a reality!
Also this is Raechel’s last week of work at EDC; in a couple of weeks she will be in Toronto finishing up her last course, working at Ward Funeral Homes and getting that much closer to her Funeral Directors license. You go baby, you make me so proud
Until next time… (and wow, 2 posts in a week? I rock the blog-o-sphere)
Hello?
by Glen on Aug.19, 2008, under Randomness
Yes it’s been quite awhile since I have posted on here, I guess the lack of activity really goes to show how much I support my blog and keeping it “up to date”. But anyways, the summer is rolling by and it’s been a good one. Raechel and I managed to get the backyard almost done and we have plans to get the basement started come this fall, hopefully done in time for Doug and Doug’s arrival for the World Junior Hockey Tournament which start December 26th.
Also we just returned from Newfoundland to attend Doug and Nanette’s wedding, and I am glad to report it went off without a hitch. The ceremony was great, the reception wonderful and it was great to catch up with the family and friends while we were back home. Getting back to Ottawa was a bit of a challenge with both of us taking different flights, and both getting delayed and taking almost 14 hours to get back home. Raechel even had to get a bus from Montreal to Ottawa as there was no flights left for her to get on until 5:30am the next morning, thanks Air Canada.
While we were home I was glad to get a couple rounds of golf in with Dougie, here’s some pictures for your enjoyment
The Wilds (Doug, Chris Verge and myself)
Black Duck Stag Golf (Doug, Dave Furey, Ian Mac and myself)
Thanks guys for the good times, cheers.
It’s been a long time running

You know, every now and again I feel bad about the lack of updates I do on here. So I’m at work, bring up Google and type in Glen Bishop just for fun and low and behold I am now the #1 search result! No more www.mrhypnotist.org from St. Louis, Missouri coming in at #1, just me baby yeah! Then again, having the top search result might not be the best thing ever in case of crazy Facebook stalkers or something else wonky. But then again, if you have your full name as your domain name, your privacy is pretty much out the window anyways.
Beyond that, I guess i should ramble on for awhile about what’s going on in my life. Just finished up winter seasons for both the Grifters and Snipers, and we won both divisions! The Grifters in fine fashion with back to back shut-out’s in the semi’s and finals, and The Snipers with a 1-0 shootout win in the finals. Good times.
Other then that, planning on getting the hedges and lawn done at the house very soon, possibly both done by this time next month. I was actually surprised to find out the cost of hedges is pretty low compared to a fence, and with all the added privacy it’s definitely the way we are going. Hopefully the sod isn’t a fortune, only time will tell i suppose.
Until next time kids..

Just got back from Newfoundland with Raechel yesterday, what a great time. A couple of weddings, golfing, stags, good eating and exploring the island that I love. We snapped way to many pictures, you can check them out here..
